As a child in the 50′s I was often off school with asthma attacks. My mum would do ‘office work’ at home. Always at 11am (after the doctors visit) she would toast fruit scones on our open fire and put lashings of butter on. With a cup of tea this was always our mid morning treat. Even now toasted scones with butter bring back the memories of elevensies with my mum.
At the moment I love a cup of tea with a slice of christmas cake at 11am, otherwise I do love a good tea cake which I see you have a recipe for this week. Bring elevenses back!
I love a potato cake with loads of butter, mmm!
I’m afraid it has to be coffee at elevenses with hot buttered fruit bread or a fruity flapjack made with jumbo oats! yum!
my favourite elevenses treat is a plain scone topped with my home made plum jam and lovely cold clotted cream
My favourite elevenses treat was always my Nan’s sultana fairy cakes with royal icing – delish!!!
I love a thick slice of Date and Walnut bread toasted with lots of butter and my clementine and passion fruit marmalade !
