Day 1 – Christmas Cakes!

Christmas 2 319

Well today sees the start of The Pink Whisk 12 Days of Christmas Baking Recipes – you’ll be treated to 1 Christmassy recipe/kitchen antic a day from now until the 12th December (that’s when I collapse in an authorised heap!)

Kicking off 2013’s run are ideas for your Christmas cake, with a new design added to the collection this Christmas.

You’ll need to start with it marzipanned and iced and my tutorial for doing just that is right here unless of course you fancy a glazed fruit cake.

  14. Hi,
I liked your cake design so much that I made a version of my own for my birthday cake on 23rd December. I have put some pictures on my blog if you have time to look and I did a link back to here. I also love the Christmas tree and the stars designs as well. Thank you for sharing your ideas.

Hi Ruth, Have been making your Christmas cake ever since you posted it. Absolutely gorgeous. However I would like to make them as cupcakes this year. Can the same mix (boozy cake one) be used. How long and what temperature should I bake them and how far in advance can I make it. Fruit is soaking as I write. Thanks.

    • Hi Ann, yes you can! They take about 50 minutes at the same oven temperature. They can be made in advance just make sure that they are wrapped before storing in the same way you would with a large cake. x
